The floor resin should have good saponification resistance. Because oxygen absorption corrosion produces hydroxide ions OH- at the cathode, the pH can even reach 14, which catalyzes the hydrolysis and saponification of groups such as acid groups, reducing the wet adhesion of the paint film. Phthalimide groups have better hydrolysis and saponification resistance than acid groups. Epoxy resin has good wet adhesion and saponification resistance. Epoxy resin primer shows greater saponification resistance than alkyd primer. Epoxy-amine and epoxy/phenolic primers have good corrosion resistance, but epoxy/phenolic primers require high-temperature curing.
Water-soluble components should be avoided in the floor paint film, otherwise it is easy to cause blistering of the floor paint film. If the residual solvent of the floor paint film contains a hydrophilic solvent, this solvent is incompatible with the dry paint film of the floor paint and remains as a separated phase, causing blistering of the floor paint film. Zinc oxide should not be used in the primer. Zinc oxide reacts with water and carbon dioxide to generate zinc hydroxide and zinc carbonate, which are slightly soluble in water, causing blistering of the floor paint film. Passivating pigments such as zinc chromate cannot function unless they are slightly soluble in water, so their presence in the floor paint film will cause blistering.
Because epoxy floor paint products have good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, impact resistance, seamlessness, solid texture, easy maintenance, and low maintenance costs, although the product was introduced relatively late in North China, after being first introduced in Beijing in 1999, the northern region gradually accepted and recognized this new product. Today, experts use the four words "hot," "large," "high," and "new" to summarize the characteristics of the floor market in North China.
With the rapid development of coating technology, the existence of floor coatings has become necessary and inevitable. According to experts, due to the differences in material properties, epoxy resin-based floor coatings have always been the dominant floor coatings. Traditional solvent-based and solvent-free floor coatings have excellent basic properties. However, they contain many volatile solvents, which pose varying degrees of harm to human health and the environment. In addition, because the paint film of traditional solvent-based coatings is very dense and has extremely poor air permeability, when applied to substrates with high underground moisture, blistering and peeling of the paint film often occur. Water-based epoxy resin coatings, compared with solvent-based epoxy resin coatings, have a microporous structure in the paint film, which allows water vapor to penetrate but not liquids, and can release the gas pressure inside the cement, fundamentally solving the problem of paint film blistering.
