Global Coatings Network News: Recently, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology issued a notice on the issuance of the "14th Five-Year" Development Plan for the Petroleum and Chemical Industry in Zhejiang Province.
The plan summarizes the challenges, achievements, and remaining shortcomings faced by the petroleum and chemical industry in Zhejiang Province during the "13th Five-Year" Plan period. It also sets out the development plans and goals for the "14th Five-Year" Plan period.
The petroleum and chemical industry is an important basic industry and pillar industry of the national economy, and also a key advantageous and characteristic industry in Zhejiang Province. It has a large economic scale, high correlation, and strong driving force. In 2020, the output of coatings in Zhejiang Province reached 1.374 million tons, with an average annual growth rate of 8.8%.
During the "14th Five-Year" Plan period, the country will further increase investment in new infrastructure projects, and the investment in infrastructure will continue to drive the domestic market for energy, chemical new materials, electronic chemicals, basic chemical raw materials, coatings, and rubber products. The huge dependence of various industries, especially emerging industries, on petrochemical products will become an inexhaustible driving force for the development of the petrochemical industry.
In addition, the plan mentions that in the coatings industry, it is necessary to continue to adjust the product structure of coatings, focusing on the development of environmentally friendly coatings such as water-based coatings, high-solids coatings, UV-curable coatings, powder coatings, and fluorine-containing functional coatings, and strictly restricting and phasing out backward varieties such as oil-based coatings, high-heavy metal content coatings, and high-VOC content coatings. Adapting to the development of emerging industries such as railway transportation, aerospace, electronic technology, wind power generation, and ships, vigorously developing antifouling coatings for ships, container and steel structure anti-rust coatings, high-performance powder coatings, wind turbine blade coatings and other functional special coatings. Strengthening the research and development of high-performance film-forming resins and auxiliaries, as well as the research on coating construction methods and applications.
